Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about creating, customizing, and using QR codes with QR Creator.
General
What is QR Creator?
QR Creator is a free, web-based QR code generator that allows you to create customizable QR codes for various purposes including URLs, text, WiFi credentials, vCards, and more. All processing happens in your browser, ensuring your data remains private.
Is QR Creator free to use?
Yes! QR Creator is completely free to use. You can generate unlimited QR codes without any cost or registration.
Do I need to create an account?
No account is required. You can start creating QR codes immediately without any registration. However, your QR code history is saved locally in your browser for your convenience.
Is my data secure?
Absolutely! All QR code generation happens entirely in your browser. Your content, images, and generated QR codes never leave your device or get sent to our servers.
Creating QR Codes
What types of QR codes can I create?
You can create QR codes for: URLs/Links, Plain Text, Email addresses, Phone numbers (SMS/Call), WiFi credentials, vCard (contact information), and more.
How do I add a logo to my QR code?
In the customization section, click on "Logo" and upload your image. You can adjust the logo size using the slider. We recommend using a square image for best results.
Can I change the colors of my QR code?
Yes! You can customize both the foreground (QR code pattern) and background colors using the color pickers in the customization panel.
What are the different pattern styles?
We offer 6 pattern styles: Square (classic), Dots (circular), Rounded (soft edges), Extra Rounded (very smooth), Classy (elegant), and Classy Rounded (premium look). Each style affects the visual appearance of the QR code data modules.
What is error correction level?
Error correction allows QR codes to be readable even if partially damaged or obscured. We offer 4 levels: Low (L) - 7% recovery, Medium (M) - 15% recovery, Quartile (Q) - 25% recovery, and High (H) - 30% recovery. Higher levels allow more customization (like larger logos) but create denser QR codes.
Downloading & Using QR Codes
What formats can I download my QR code in?
You can download your QR codes in three formats: PNG (raster, best for web), JPG (raster, smaller file size), and SVG (vector, best for printing and scaling).
What size should I make my QR code?
For digital use (websites, emails): 300-500px is sufficient. For print materials: 1000px or larger, or use SVG format which scales infinitely. We offer sizes from 128px to 2048px.
Will my QR code expire?
No! QR codes generated with QR Creator never expire. However, if your QR code points to a URL, the destination link must remain active for the QR code to work.
Can I edit a QR code after downloading it?
You cannot edit the QR code image itself, but you can recreate it with different settings. Check your QR code history to reload previous configurations and make changes.
How do I print my QR code?
Download in SVG format for best print quality, or use PNG at 1000px or larger. Ensure high contrast (dark pattern on light background) and test the printed QR code before mass production.
Advanced Features
What is QR code version?
QR code version (1-40) determines the size and data capacity. Version 1 is 21×21 modules (smallest), Version 40 is 177×177 modules (largest). Auto mode automatically selects the optimal version based on your content length.
What is the quiet zone margin?
The quiet zone is the white space around your QR code. The recommended margin is 4 modules, which helps scanners detect and read the QR code properly. You can adjust it from 0-10 modules.
What are position markers?
Position markers are the three square corners of a QR code that help scanners detect orientation. You can customize their style (Square, Dot, Extra Rounded) and the center dot style.
Can I create multiple QR codes at once?
Yes! Use our Batch Generator feature to create multiple QR codes from a CSV file or by entering multiple URLs/texts. Perfect for events, product labels, or marketing campaigns.
What are QR code templates?
Templates are pre-designed QR code configurations for common use cases (business cards, social media, WiFi, etc.). They provide optimized settings and styling to get you started quickly.
Scanning & Compatibility
How do I scan a QR code?
Most modern smartphones can scan QR codes directly with the camera app. For iPhone: Open Camera app and point at QR code. For Android: Open Camera or Google Lens. You can also use our built-in QR Scanner feature.
Will my customized QR code work with all scanners?
Yes, but scan performance may vary. Square patterns have the highest success rate (99.9%). Rounded patterns work well with modern devices (95-98% success). Extra-rounded patterns may require better lighting and newer scanners (90-95%).
Why isn't my QR code scanning?
Common issues: 1) Too low contrast between foreground/background colors, 2) QR code is too small or blurry, 3) Pattern style too complex with low error correction, 4) Insufficient lighting, 5) Logo is too large. Try using Square pattern, High error correction, and ensure good contrast.
What's the maximum data capacity?
It depends on the version and error correction level. For example: Numeric (up to 7,089 characters), Alphanumeric (up to 4,296 characters), Binary/Byte (up to 2,953 bytes). Auto version selection handles this automatically.
Privacy & Data
Where is my QR code history stored?
Your QR code history is stored locally in your browser's local storage. It never gets uploaded to our servers. You can clear it anytime from your browser settings or by clearing the history in the app.
Do you track what QR codes I create?
No, we do not track or store your QR code content. We use Google Analytics (with your consent) to understand general app usage, but not to collect your personal data or QR code content.
Can I use QR Creator offline?
Once the page is loaded, basic QR code generation works offline since all processing happens in your browser. However, you need an internet connection to initially load the app.
What happens if I clear my browser data?
Clearing your browser data will delete your locally stored QR code history and preferences. Your downloaded QR code files will remain safe on your device.

Can I use QR Creator for commercial purposes?

Do I need to credit QR Creator?

Troubleshooting
The QR code preview isn't showing
Make sure you've entered content in the input field. Try refreshing the page. Check if JavaScript is enabled in your browser. Clear your browser cache if the issue persists.
Download button isn't working
Ensure you have content entered and a QR code is generated. Check if your browser is blocking downloads. Try a different browser or disable browser extensions that might interfere.
My logo isn't appearing on the QR code
Check if the logo file is a supported image format (PNG, JPG, SVG). Increase the error correction level to H for better logo support. Try a smaller logo size. Ensure the logo file isn't corrupted.
Colors aren't showing correctly
Make sure there's sufficient contrast between foreground and background colors. Very similar colors may not scan well. Try using darker foreground colors on light backgrounds.
